The Civil Services Examination, commonly known as CSE, is a national-level competition administered by the Staff Selection Commission to identify suitable personnel for Group B and Group C positions within government ministries, departments, and organizations. The exam consists of multiple Tiers; each Tier features multiple exams with various written components containing 1750 marks total and Interview tests accounting for an additional 275 mark score – their combined marks determine your final rank overall.
General Studies Paper I and II are objective-type multiple choice exams consisting of 200 marks each, required to qualify for the Mains examination. They cover various subjects like History, Geography, Polity, Economy, Environment & Ecology as well as Science. Current Affairs are also part of these papers.
The General Studies (GS) Paper IV is an essay-based exam designed to test candidates’ ability to think critically, write concisely, and organize their thoughts clearly. Topics range from effects of developed/developing countries’ policies on India to globalization & its influence in India’s life.
